Originally from Mesa, Arizona, Macie moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to attend Northern Arizona University. She received a BS in Environmental Studies and Sustainability, with minors in Spanish and Biology. During her college years, she fell in love with rivers while working as a guide on the Arkansas River. After a few summers working intimately with rivers, the desire to protect and restore watersheds took root. Upon graduating, Macie served as an AmeriCorps member with the Friends of the Rio de Flag and the City of Flagstaff Stormwater Office where she did a number of watershed-related projects. Now, she is excited to be a part of River Corps and serve on behalf of the Fountain Creek Watershed District.
“I look forward to working with the various partnerships the Fountain Creek Watershed District has formed and to learning more about watershed coordination and restoration El Paso and Pueblo Counties. My long-term goals include gaining expertise in on-the-ground stream and river restoration, strengthening my geospatial mapping and analysis skills, and deepening my understanding of watershed coordination to help restore watersheds and make them more resilient for both people and the environment.”
