The Fountain Creek Watershed needs helping hands!

It’s common for trash and debris to end up in waterways – clogging drainage systems, impacting wildlife, affecting water quality, and ruining the view of our natural landscapes.

Be part of the largest watershed-wide clean-up in the state of Colorado! Creek Week volunteers clean up litter along a creek, trail, park, or open space throughout the watershed. We’re inviting individuals and groups (families, clubs, schools, neighborhoods, etc.) to form a Creek Crew. Get outdoors, get active, and get busy creating positive change for your community and those living downstream.

Vision - To achieve and sustain a healthy Fountain Creek Watershed.

History of Creek Week

Creek Week started in 2014 when community members in the Fountain Creek Watershed District realized there was a major need for a community cleanup program. Witnessing the unsightly trash and debris negatively affecting our natural ecosystem and the species that call it home, Allison Schuch, now Executive Director, decided to take action. Determined to make a difference, she spearheaded the creation of Creek Week.

What began as a small community effort has since blossomed into something extraordinary. Creek Week, a 9-day community improvement program, has grown to become the largest of its kind in the state. It has captured the hearts and dedication of thousands of volunteers who work tirelessly to beautify and protect our beloved home watershed.

Now, in 2024, we are celebrating Creek Week's 11th year with appreciation for those who have made Creek Week's success possible. This success is largely due to the passionate individuals who lend their time, energy, and expertise to helping make our home watershed a better place.

The Data is In! Creek Week 2024 Makes a Big Impact

We are excited to share the incredible success of the 11th Annual Creek Week Cleanup! Over nine days, eight communities across the Fountain Creek Watershed came together to make a lasting impact. This year’s cleanup included crews from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Fountain, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls, Palmer Lake, Monument, and Woodland Park.

Here’s what we accomplished together:

  • 68 Crews
  • 1,750 Volunteers
  • Nearly 20 Tons of Trash Removed—over 40,000 pounds!

Thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and community members who helped make Creek Week 2024 a success! Together, we’re making a cleaner, healthier watershed for all.
