Litter Letter Project 2024

To kick off the Creek Week Cleanup, the 7th Annual Litter Letter Project will be created at America the Beautiful Park on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The free, public event begins with a cleanup at 9:00 AM. Cleanup crews will beautify the area and use the collected trash to fill giant letters for a trash art installation. Live music, refreshments, and short remarks from community leaders will follow ending at 12:30 PM.

LITTER LETTER PROJECT REGISTRATION

FCWD is hosting this year's Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project and has reimagined and streamlined the process of one of the beloved elements of the Creek Week Cleanup. We'll spend the morning together collecting trash to design this year's word - R E N E W - onsite and live! Such a hallmark event deserves to spearhead the Creek Week Cleanup and be celebrated with live music, refreshments, and remarks from community leaders.

The Artistic Process:

The Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project occurs at the launch of Creek Week - FCWD's flagship community cleanup program - where volunteers diligently collect trash and debris from our precious waterways. The collected materials like plastics, cans, and other discarded items serve as the primary medium for the sculpture.

Celebrating Arts Month:

The completed sculpture will be proudly displayed through the month of October coinciding with Arts Month, a celebration of creativity and artistic expression in our community. This unique display serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of litter on our natural spaces and the possibilities of transforming waste into something beautiful and thought-provoking.

The Litter Letter Project is a collaborative effort between Fountain Creek Watershed District, Richard's Rubbish Roundup, and Concrete Couch and is supported by generous sponsors. This extraordinary event brings together our community to create an intersectional art sculpture using trash collected from our local waterways and public lands. It's a powerful demonstration of litter turned into art highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship.
